Amanda Breton
Multidimentional Contemporary Artist
Amanda Breton grew up on the North Shore of Massachusetts and now resides on the Big Island of Hawaii, following a period of experimental nomadism. From a young age, she felt a deep connection to art, believing that life is most meaningful when viewed through an artistic lens. She earned a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where she focused on large-scale ceramic sculpture and mixed media installation. Since graduating in 2011, Amanda has worked professionally in ceramics and has integrated her background in healing arts to explore deeper wellbeing through creative expression.
Amanda's artistic process merges intuitive and mystical practices, using art for divination, healing, and transformation. Influenced by abstract expressionism and surrealist concepts, she delves into the subconscious, unseen realms, and energetic information through painting, clay, and dance. By following sensory and emotional cues, she expresses the poetics of inner landscapes in physical space.
Her practice seeks deeper wisdom by engaging with abstract aspects of the self while experimenting with the sensuality and maluability of materials like clay. Transitioning between materials and techniques is crucial for gaining perspective and allowing these materials to reveal and communicate information embedded within the body, psyche, and collective consciousness.
For Amanda, art is a practice of listening and feeling, valuing the process over the product to uncover expanded states of being. Her free-form approach in clay and painting highlights transformation and self-discovery, mirroring her journey to shape life as she shapes clay. This evolving practice is central to both her artistic and personal growth, guiding her exploration of life's larger truths.
